About

Open World by DigiPen provides fun, hands-on, high-quality K-12 experiences in the STEAM fields of the future.

DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond, Washington has educated students of all ages for over 30 years, and we’ve applied this experience to develop engaging summer workshops where every student can learn and be inspired, cared for, and seen.

Open World isn’t your standard day camp experience. Our goal is to help students develop tangible skills in fields like computer science, game design, music, and art, but we also want to inspire them to be curious about the world around them. Students are their own best teachers when they discover a passion worth pursuing.

How do we achieve this balance of fun, inspiration, and education? It comes from our people, curriculum, and philosophy.

Our Mission

At Open World by DigiPen, our mission is to provide fun, hands-on, high-quality K-12 experiences in the STEAM fields of the future. That means every child who attends one of our workshops should come away feeling engaged by our instructors and industry guests, excited to share what they learned and created, empowered with the skills to continue creating, and cared for by every member of our team. It all adds up to experiences that are EPIC FUN for everyone:

Exploration: Our program allows students to explore new fields and dive deep into subjects they are passionate about.

Problem solving: Through our workshops’ fun and engaging activities, our students will learn problem solving skills that can be applied outside of our program.

Industry connection: Our students will experience a direct connection to the interactive media industry by way of our instructors and industry guests.

Care: Every student who attends our workshops will feel seen and cared for.

FUN: Our program experience is focused on fun and exposure, rather than academic outcomes that must be achieved.
